The VUSSP: Who Are We And What Do We Do? - A Word From The Director

Welcome to the home of the Virtual United States Space Program, the second longest operating virtual space agency in the hobby to date. We utilize the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator created by Mr. Martin Schwiger to perform our space operations that range from launching manned spacecraft into earth orbit, to launching manned and unmanned to the Moon and beyond. The VUSSP has established itself as the best, most impressive, and the more fun of the virtual space agencies in the virtual aviation community. In the nearly 3 years that we have been in operation, we have launched over 30 unmanned payloads and close to 20 manned missions utilizing a number of launch vehicles. We pride ourselves on the records and miraculous accomplishments achieved over our years of operation ranging from placing the first virtual space station in space, beating the other agency by a mere few days in a tight race, to launching 3 space probes to the Sun to study it in our Solar Discoverer Program.

The VUSSP has strived to attain greatness in the virtual aviation community. Other organizations have failed to achieve such greatness and have risen and fallen. Other organizations have failed to achieve the goals of a common spaceflight. But, one thing is certain, the VUSSP has excelled in attaining such goals and is here to stay for another three years and beyond..

The VUSSP sets its expectations of its members high, and this comes only from hard work and dedication on the part of our members, whether a pilot flying weather for the launch day, or the commander of the mission. Each member is trained to be the highest quality in his/her own field. In the words of a great former NASA Flight Director during the Apollo era, Gene Kranz, "Failure Is Not An Option" and is something we deem as unacceptable.

Each member is expected to exceed and excel in his/her capacity. No member will be left behind. Here at the VUSSP, we strive for the best expected training, while working with real world engineers, student engineers, and experts who do this type of stuff for a living. You will find the best training possible, from the basics of space flight, down to the most minute details of launching to another planet. So, with that said, God's Speed To All!!

Unity-B1 Launch Delayed One Week at 12-30-2005

Yesterday night, it was announced by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Director Zachary Brown that the Unity-B1 launch has been delayed for one week due to payload development difficulties. These difficulties are not critical and the launch will occur on time.

"The VUSSP is confident that our mission will continue as planned. We were hoping not to have to delay Unity, however, we knew that it was inevetable, however, we are pressing on with the launch schedule and pray that nothing else holds us up as we are really pushing it with one launch every weekend for the entire month of January and half of February. Its definitly a busy time for us." stated VUSSP Director Kaimoni Sutton.

The Unity-B1 launch has been resheduled to Saturday January 13, 2006 and retains its 9:56 pm EST launch time. The EWOS-2 mission that was originally scheduled for Friday January 6, 2006 is uneffected by Unity's progress and will launch on time and as planned.
